One instruction you can give six ways. Drag the amount and watch the SMS counter move, because that limit is real.

What you point it at

Photograph it. That is the whole step.

A fees slip, an ajo card, a meter number, an account scribbled on the back of something. KoreX reads the paper you did not choose, and takes over the tedious half.

ReadingRead

It reads the reference, not just the account.

Anyone can copy the account number off a fees slip. The reference is the part that tells the bursar whose child paid, and it is the part everybody mistypes — then spends a week proving it on WhatsApp.

Pay fees with your PIN

The school reconciles it themselves. You send nothing to anybody afterwards.

The everyday things

All of this works with your data off.

Not a reduced version of the app. This is the menu, on a handset with no bundle and nothing installed, and it is the whole product.

Reply with a number

No data. No app. No smartphone.

  1. 01Send money

Any bank, by account number or by phone number. They need no KoreX account of their own.

  2. 02Airtime & data

For you, or for somebody else — who approves it on their own phone before it goes.

  3. 03Pay a bill

It chases you across channels before the disconnection date, not after it.

  4. 04Send to a list

From a voice note, a photo of a notebook page, or names typed one to a line. One PIN for the batch.

  5. 05Repeat a payment

The reminder reaches the person being paid, not only your own phone.

  6. 06Where my money went

Reads the other accounts you have linked, so it sees spending KoreX never processed.

  7. 07Freeze account

Works from any handset — which is the point, since yours is the one that has gone.

  8. 08Change PIN

The same identity check as the first day, and nothing moves until it is finished.

One instruction, many ways in

Use whichever one your phone can manage today.

Data finished, so you dial. On a bus, so you talk instead of typing. Borrowing somebody’s handset, so you use the USSD code and leave nothing behind on it. The instruction is the same one every time.

Nothing is a lesser version. The USSD menu can do what the chat can do, because they are the same request underneath.

When conditions are bad

The channels still standing are the ones that never needed data in the first place. Sending money is the same three steps it was this morning.

  • WhatsApp

    Needs a data bundle.

  • SMS

No data needed. As fast on 2G as on 4G.

  • USSD

No data, no airtime, no app. 2G is all it ever needed.

  • Voice call

Speak it. Five languages, 2G is enough.

  • Email

    Needs a data bundle.

  • Pay link

Money coming to you

You never have to ask who sent it.

Ask someone for money and KoreX gives that one request its own account number. They pay it from whatever bank app they already have, and it arrives labelled with what it was for — no “I’ve sent it” followed by a blurry screenshot and a guess.

The number expires with the request, so you can send it to someone you barely know without handing over an account number that follows you around forever.

Who uses it

Built for the phone in the other person’s hand.

The one it was built for

The trader

Photographs the account number a customer wrote down and pays it without typing a digit.

No card machine. No app on either phone. One photograph and a PIN.

The student

Sends money at the end of the month, when the data bundle is long finished.

The ajo collector

Stops carrying a notebook and stops chasing six people by hand.

The person abroad

Sends home to a parent who answers a phone call and never a chat app — in the language that parent actually speaks.

Getting started

One conversation, start to finish.

Not four screens. The same thread you say hello in is the thread your account number arrives in.

  1. 01

    Say hello

Message KoreX on WhatsApp number or dial USSD string. Both open the same account.

    No download

  2. 02

    Prove who you are

Your BVN and a photo of your ID. It takes one pass, not three.

    One pass

  3. 03

    Set your PIN

Four digits. Nothing leaves your account without it, on any channel.

    Four digits

  4. 04

    Your number appears

An account number lands in the chat. Money can arrive immediately.

Where it works

Every Nigerian bank KoreX’s partner reaches, plus transfers across supported African countries. Partner banks and rails

Languages

English, Pidgin, Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo. Typed or spoken, on every channel that carries voice.

Questions

The things people actually ask.

If something here is missing, it is probably because the honest answer is that we have not built it yet.

Ask me something. Pick one below.

Open an account from a text message.

Send one message, confirm who you are, set a PIN. Your account number arrives in the same thread.

No app to download. No bundle required.
